Champions Celtic host Aberdeen at Celtic Park on the opening day, while third-placed Champions League third qualifying round entrants Motherwell start their season away at newly promoted Ross County.
The slated “Club 12” open their campaign with a visit to Kilmarnock, but the identity of this club is yet to be decided.
A vote will be taken on an as yet unnamed date, with Rangers needing the approval of eight of the 12 clubs in the SPL to retain their place in the league.
Should the Gers fail to gain the required support from seven of the 11 other clubs, their place could be taken by either last season’s relegated Dunfermline or Scottish First Division runners-up Dundee.
Scottish Cup winners Hearts host fellow Europa League entrants St Johnstone, while the third Europa League entrant Dundee United will start their season a day later on Sunday August 4 at home to Hibernian.
St Mirren host Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the day’s remaining fixture.
Goal.com has picked out four key matchdays in the SPL fixture list which we think may go a long way to deciding the key issues at both the top and bottom of the league.
