Nikica Jelavic secures work permit to complete Rangers move
Croatian raring to play in the Champions League...
By Adithya Ananth
Rangers have confirmed that striker Nikica Jelavic has secured a work permit and is now free to ply his trade in the Scottish Premier League.
The Glaswegian giants recently struck a £4 million deal with Rapid Vienna for the sale of the forward, who took a medical to complete the switch. The move was pending a work permit to represent Gers, which the club have now confirmed has come through successfully.
This means that if the paperwork is completed before the weekend, then the 24-year-old could make his first appearance for the club against St Johnstone on Saturday.
Now the hitman is eagerly hoping to play for his new club in the Champions League, while hoping that Aston Villa can send his former club out of Europe - which would enable him to participate in a continental competition.
"To play in the Champions League with Rangers would be fantastic. It is a dream of mine," Jelavic told the club's official website.
"I have to hope that my old team loses but this is football. I will, of course, be very interested to see what happens at Villa Park."
