Celtic prepare for £8m Aiden McGeady sale - report

Aiden McGeady - Celtic (PA)
Celtic have set the wheels in motion to sanction the £8 million sale of tricky winger Aiden McGeady, according to The Guardian.

McGeady, 24, has officially been ruled out of the club's North American tour with a thigh injury but it is understood that the time off will be used to field offers for the player. The Republic of Ireland international is believed to be keen to test himself in a higher league and has been tracked by Aston Villa, Birmingham City and Spartak Moscow.

A reunion with Martin O'Neill at Villa is believed to be the most likely. The Ulsterman handed McGeady his debut in 2004 and is rumoured to be ready to offer England World Cup striker Emile Heskey in part-exchange.
