The former Netherlands international has acknowledged that this term is a lost cause for the Rossoneri and is already looking toward next season
The Dutchman has been unable to turn things around since replacing Massimiliano Allegri as head coach back in January, with Milan sitting 11th in the Serie A table after this weekend's results on the back of three consecutive league losses.
The Rossoneri faithful orchestrated a protest on Sunday to voice their dismay with the club's poor performances but Seedorf has vowed to bring the San Siro side back to the top again.
"We will start a new project next season and our objective is to bring Milan back to the top again," Seedorf told reporters.
"We have to build a new team and make Milan competitive again. We will have to try and do just that in an intelligent way.
"It is vital that we buy the right players. We have to sign players who understand the club's philosophy and who want to be part of our project."
Milan have collected just 35 points from 28 games and are trailing leaders Juventus by 37 points.
