Chilean forward Eduardo Vargas sealed the win in the 79th minute, and it is one that Barcos says was all about overcoming adversity.
"It was a result based on how the team managed to overcome difficulties," the Argentine told Fifa.com. "We had to better the match we played last week.
"If we always play like tonight, teams will find it very difficult to beat us in the Libertadores."
Santos sealed his move to Brazil earlier in February, with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger stating that he had suffered a loss of confidence after some poor displays while deputising for the injured Kieran Gibbs.
Following the signing of Nacho Monreal, Santos says he still has a future at Arsenal, and wants to return to the club on top form when his loan spells concludes at the end of the 2012-13 season.
