I am happy at Internacional but sometimes you have to know when to leave, says Leandro Damiao

The attacker, who has been linked with a number of top European clubs recently, admitted that he has to do what is right for his career, but insisted that he is happy in Brazil

Internacional striker Leandro Damiao has confirmed that he wants to stay with his team, but stressed that he may leave the South American outfit for one of his many suitors one day.

The 22-year-old forward, who has represented Brazil at international level, has been a rumoured target for a host of top European teams, including Juventus, Barcelona and Real Madrid, but admits that he is happy at the Porto Allegre side.

"My desire is to stay [at Internacional]," he told Globoesporte. "But there comes a time when you have to know when to leave. For now though, I am happy here."

Damiao's coach at Internacional, Dorival Junior, seems resigned to losing the No. 9, though, saying: "We need to prepare for his departure. There is nothing on the table at the moment, but it is only natural that some players draw attention."

Damiao was on the scoresheet at the weekend, as Internacional defeated Coritiba 2-0 in their first game of the renewed Brasileirao Serie A.
