Santos formally reject Porto's 'comical' bid for midfielder Ganso
The Brazil international has been repeatedly linked with a move to Europe in recent months but his club are unwilling to sell unless their valuation of the player is met

Santos president Luis Alvaro Ribeiro has formally rejected Porto's "comical" bid for Ganso.
The Portuguese outfit reportedly offered €8 million for the Brazil international, much to the disgust of Alvarez Ribeiro, who previously suggested that maybe “there was a typo and they forgot to put one more zero in their bid.”
The Santos supremo has now officially informed Porto that their offer has been dismissed.
"Ganso could have gone if there was a proposal consistent to the value and potential of his football,” Alvaro Ribeiro told Globoesporte.
Indeed, the club president insisted that he will not prevent the player from moving on if he receives what he deems a suitable offer for the 22-year-old attacking midfielder.
"Santos, on principle, do not want unhappy players,” he explained. “If he wants to leave and a bid meets our valuation, he can leave.”
However, Alvaro Ribeiro feels that Ganso would be best served by maintaining his fine form from last season into this year's campaign if he wants to secure a switch to one of Europe's elite.
"The player is eager to shine and that is something that is in both his interests and the club's,” he explained.
“If he plays well, certainly better offers will come in the middle of the year.”
Ganso has already been capped seven times by his country and is considered one of the most exciting young playmakers in world football.
