Top scorer of Russian Premier League expresses his disbelief and disgust at being attacked by a police officer after trying to give his jersey to a fan in the crowdZenit St Petersburg striker Danko Lazovic has been tasered by police after giving his jersey to a fan in the wake of his team's comfortable 2-0 victory over FC Volga.
The forward explained his disbelief at the incident occurrence to the club's official website: ''I just went to give my jersey to the fans after the match, when a police officer appeared behind me and tasered me in the back with his electric shocker. I don't know why that happened. Maybe he thought that I was one of the fans. Sometimes people do really awful things.
''It was a strange feeling. It`s just amazing that that kind of thing can happen at sporting events, but here, in Russia, apparently everything is possible."
The club's official website also released a statement venting their anger at the approach of the police, while outlining the course of action they desire to take.''FC Zenit plans to submit a claim to the Public Prosecutor's Office based on the violent treatment of the club's players and fans and the police force exceeding its authority. FC Zenit also aims to attract the attention of football officials to this improper treatment.''
Lazovic currently tops the race for the Russian Golden Boot with nine goals ahead of Aleksandr Kerzhakov who has seven. Zenit trail pacesetters CSKA Moscow by two points having each played 13 and 14 games respectively.
