Former Arsenal and Leeds United defender David O’Leary is reportedly set to be sacked from his position of senior coach of Dubai side Ah Ahli.
According to Gulf News, a senior member of the club’s board of directors has confirmed that the Irishman’s brief tenure at the helm of the club is over and an official announcement confirming the decision is expected to be made shortly.
The report claims that the club’s management, of which Abdullah Al Naboodah is the head, will approve the decision once he returns from a trip to Europe.
"Since [Abdullah] Al Naboodah is travelling back to Dubai from Europe on Saturday night, we will issue a formal statement only after all other formalities are carried out," the board member said.
Al Ahli were thrashed 5-1 last time out by Al Jazira, with O’Leary refusing to attend the post-match press conference.
The former Republic of Ireland international only took over as senior coach in July and had helped the team rise as high as third back in December.
However, his team’s recent poor form has heaped pressure on his position with youth team coach Eid Baroot expected to take over in the interim.
