The Latics beat newly promoted Southampton 2-0 at St Mary's on Saturday for their first win of the season following defeat to Chelsea in the previous round.
And the former Swansea City coach says that he will give those who did not feature in either of thoses games the chance to force their way into his plans.

"You're going to see a lot of players given an opportunity to show what they can do and that is a competitive edge we have in this group. It's a great opportunity to share the demands.
"You've got a few players that have been working really well in pre-season and they've no reward yet and I think it's important that everyone is ready.
"It's an opportunity for some other players to show what they can do and show that they can have a massive say this season."
David Jones, Ben Watson, Callum McManaman and Mauro Boselli are players who could get starts whilst regulars Gary Caldwell and James McCarthy are likely to miss out.
Jean Beausejour also made his return from a hamstring injury at the weekend and could be set to feature in midweek.
