Young Spaniard impresses Ewood Park chief after bagging a brace in the League Cup tie, showing a "glimpse of the future" as boss looks to make further squad changesBlackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean has reserved special praise for Ruben Rochina after his performance in the club's League Cup win over Sheffield Wednesday.
Rochina bagged a brace in the 3-1 victory and Kean believes there is more to come from the former Barcelona youngster.
"I see Ruben every day and I know the quality he's got. Tonight we had a glimpse of what we've got for the future. His play tonight was exceptional," Kean said.
Rochina netted twice in the opening five minutes to set up Rovers' win, with David Goodwillie adding a third shortly afterwards.
The 20-year-old moved to Ewood Park in January, making just four appearances as Blackburn managed to avoid relegation, and may now have put himself firmly into Kean's thoughts as he looks to invest further in his squad.
Simon Vukcevic became the club's latest signing this week, while a deal for FC Dallas defender George John has also been agreed.
Hoffenheim striker Vedad Ibisevic has also been linked with a move to the Lancashire club.
Kean continued: "I met a player last night with permission from his club. But there is some medical and contractual stuff to do."
