"Until the draw was made, I’d never heard of Sheriff - I thought they might be from Northern Ireland," the 23-year-old told the Daily Mirror.
"But coming to places like this is always an experience. Transnistria is a new country for me. I only heard of it 20 minutes before we got here, but it’s improved my geography.
"I can tell my grandchildren I played in a part of Moldova that isn’t Moldova."
Andre Villas-Boas has hinted that Emmanuel Adebayor could make his first appearance of the season for the north London club on Thursday.
The Togo striker has been frozen out of the squad since returning from compassionate leave, following the death of his brother.
Villas-Boas said: "Adebayor has travelled and there’s a chance he could be involved."
