The Italian says errors in his side's recent Serie A matches against Parma and Inter will stand them in good stead ahead of their next European tie
The Viola are currently fifth in Serie A, although they could be higher had recent late goals not gone against them.
And the 39-year-old former Italy international is confident his side will learn from their errors, starting on Thursday away to the Ukrainian outfit.
"The mistakes we made against Parma and Inter in recent games will help us grow," Montella told reporters.
"These errors will give us a better approach to games from now on, starting against Dnipro.
"We face a quality team and this is not an easy trip for us. They are strong, compact and accustomed to playing in Europe. The Ukrainian championship is very respectable.
"We care about the Europa League, and will do our best to get out of what I believe is a tough group."
Fiorentina began their European campaign with a 3-0 win at Pacos Ferreira and sit top of Group E.
