thumbnail Hello,

The Blues captain is struggling with a knock that could see him sidelined for Wednesday's clash against Benfica, meaning a second successive European final absence

Chelsea captain John Terry is a major doubt for Wednesday's Europa League final after picking up an ankle injury in Saturday's victory over Aston Villa.

Terry was stretchered off after a collision with Villa's Nathan Baker and the former England defender left the stadium on crutches and wearing a protective boot.

If not passed fit it will be the second European final Terry has missed in the last 12 months - following his suspension in the Champions League final last season.

Of his injury, Terry told the Daily Mirror: "It is my ankle. I'm going to get it scanned. I don't know if I'll be fit for Wednesday at the moment."

Terry will have a scan on the injury before making the trip to Amsterdam and Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard admitted it would be a huge blow to lose the 32-year-old, while sympathising with Terry's plight.

"It's a huge blow," noted Lampard. "I am gutted for him because I know how difficult that was for him, missing the game last year.

"But whatever we do as a club, John is part of it. We win things together."
