“The future? Yes. I am happy to play now. When the situation was finished in January I said to the club that we can turn the page. We have moved on," he told reporters.
“I’m only focusing on the club now. Next season, I don’t know. I just want to be focused on the Premier League and the Europa League this season.”
Alan Pardew's more immediate worry, however, is a last-32 Europa League second leg with Ukrainian side Metalist on Thursday, and after a 0-0 draw at St James' Park in the first leg Coloccini is expected a tough test.
“It will be a big test for us. The situation - the weather, the crowd, the team we’re playing - it will be a different kind of challenge, but if you want to go to the final this is the Europa League. It is tough," he added.
“There are many tests ahead but I think we have got a squad which is strong enough to cope with what is in front of us, one that can go on to better things.

“Yes, of course, all of us would love to go to the final and win it, but we can only afford to take things step by step for now.
“I know that it’s a long time, too long a time, since this club won anything. Newcastle have won nothing for so many years and that is wrong. We want to put that right and get our names in the history books. But we are too far away to talk of that now.”
The former Deportivo La Coruna man is likely to lead a re-jigged defence and he thinks they will have to be at their best to keep the hosts at bay.
“We will have our hands full with the Metalist attack," he said. "I know quite a few of them: Sousa, Cristaldo. They are all very good players who did very well in Argentina.
“They are a good team, but we are a good team as well. It is 50/50. We showed in the first leg that we can create chances against them, so that has got to give us confidence.
“I thought we played very well at home and we can build on that, because we feel like we can score against them. We had many situations against them and it is good to come here to try and win the game.”
