After a 25-year-old man was left with serious injuries to his skull and thigh, two men have been arrested and charged with attempted murder in the Italian capital.
25-year-old Ashley Mills, travelled to Rome to watch Tottenham face Lazio in Europa League action when he and other Spurs fans fell victim of what is described as a anti-semitism attack.
The pair who have been charged have been named as 26-year-old Francesco Ianari and 27-year-old Mauro Pannelli.
A police spokewoman said: "They have been charged with attempted murder for involvement in riots and causing serious injury with a knife and are due to appear in court soon."
Initially it was thought that the attack came from Lazio ultras, however it is reported that the attack was not of football rivalry, but of anti-semitism.
Lazio chairman Claudio Lotito believes Lazio supporters are not to blame for the attacks.
"Lazio fans have nothing to do with what happened," Lotito told reporters.
