Birmingham starlet Nathan Redmond takes positives from Europa League exit
The 17-year-old winger is hopeful his side can now push on for promotion after just missing out on qualifying for the next round of the Europa League by a one-point margin
By Michael Lightfoot
The 17-year-old played a pivotal part in the goal, as it was his cross which was headed home by striker Adam Rooney.
But to gain qualification to the next round they had to rely on Portuguese outfit Braga beating Belgian side Club Brugge.
Braga had a man sent-off early on in the game, allowing Brugge the opportunity to get the point they needed to qualify, meaning any result Birmingham got would not have counted, and it didn't as they bowed out one point behind the top two places.
Redmond told ITV4: "We have got a lot to play for this season, we've got to concentrate on the league.
"It's a bit sad that we've gone out but we've sent the fans away with a happy vibe and we played well, now we can push on and get promoted."
Redmond was voted man of the match at the end of the game and added: "It's one of the better games I've played.
"I'm constantly trying to develop my career and training with the first team week in and week out is helping me do that, so every chance I get in front of the fans I'll take it."
