Liverpool left-back Paul Konchesky should be fit to face Steaua Bucharest in the Europa League on Thursday, despite limping off against Birmingham City on Sunday with an injury.

The former Fulham player was forced to out of the action on his debut after 77 minutes with a tight hamstring. However, his manager Roy Hodgson confirmed that the substitution was purely precautionary and the England international should be in Europa League action this week.

"He hasn't played for a couple of weeks and he started to feel his hamstring a little bit so we took him off as a precaution and put Daniel Agger on," Hodgson told the Reds' official website.

"I thought he did well in his first game for us. He was very competent and it bodes well for the future."
