Rafinha believes Arsenal's improvement from last season means they will pose a tough test for Bayern Munich in this season's Champions League.

The German champions saw off the Gunners in the last 16 of last season's tournament en route to an historic treble, and will face them at the same stage this term.

But Rafinha warns the signing of Mesut Ozil and the improvement Arsene Wenger's men have made this season will make them a more formidable proposition than before.

40/1 Arsenal are 40/1 with BetVictor to win the Champions League
"There will certainly be two tough games," he told Goal. "We played them last year in the Champions League and we won one and lost the other. They are a better team now than last year.

"We will need to be at our best to make it to the next round. They're a great team with players like [Mesut] Ozil, [Olivier] Giroud and [Mikel] Arteta."

Rafinha also believes team-mate Franck Ribery deserves to win the Fifa Ballon d'Or ahead of Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona phenomenon Lionel Messi.

"Ribery for sure," he replied when asked who should win the award. "For what he has accomplished this year and what he has meant to the team.

"We have won everything possible and he was a key part of our success."

The former Schalke man also discussed Ligue 1's recent development thanks to Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain's spending sprees, hinting that he could move to France in the future.

"I see the improvement in the league and it is interesting to see teams like PSG and Monaco with many top players," he continued.

"I have just renewed my contract with Bayern, so I am focused here for another three years; then who knows?"
