The legendary ex-Bianconeri forward believes that the point salvaged by Antonio Conte's side in Turin has added value on account of Galatasaray's defeat against CopenhagenA 2-2 draw in Tuesday's Champions League clash with Real Madrid was a result for Juventus, according to former forward Alessandro Del Piero.
The Bianconeri took the lead through Arturo Vidal but ultimately needed a Fernando Llorente header to salvage a point after Los Blancos had turned the game on its head early in the second half with goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.
Juve dropped to the bottom of Group B, with Copenhagen having upset Galatasaray in Denmark, but Del Piero, who now plays for Sydney FC, feels that his old club are now in a decent position to qualify for the last 16.
"A draw is a good result," the World Cup winner told RTL.
"In conjunction with Galatasaray's defeat, it represents a good night in terms of progress to the knockout stages. They still have a great chance of going through."
Del Piero left Italy for Australia last summer, thus ending a 19-year association with Juventus. However, his former Azzurri team-mate Francesco Totti is still going strong at hometown club Roma, much to the 38-year-old's delight.
"I think that stories like mine and Francesco's are certainly not easy to find, both in Italy and woridwide," the Syndey FC captain argued.
"I hope that Italian sides like Juventus, Milan and Roma can revert to having players with romantic, loyal careers, like me, Francesco, Franco Baresi and Paolo Maldini did in the past."
