thumbnail Hello,

The Bayern Munich boss was delighted at the way in which the Bavarians dismantled "one of the best teams in the Premier League" in their own backyard in the Champions League

Pep Guardiola admitted he was "overjoyed" after watching his Bayern Munich side beat Manchester City 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The Bavarians produced what club president Uli Hoeness described as "almost perfect football" as they racked up goals from Franck Ribery, Thomas Muller and Arjen Robben in the first hour of the Champions League encounter.

City pulled a goal back through Alvaro Negredo during a late rally but, as far as Guardiola was concerned, that did not take the gloss off what he felt was a "wonderful" performance against one of England's finest.

"We are overjoyed," the former Barcelona boss enthused. "The important thing is that we won but we have played in England against one of the best teams in the league - and produced a great game.

"The team has shown in the past to what it is capable of and did so again today. It is wonderful, particularly as this performance has come away, and in Manchester, too."

Having eased past CSKA Moscow and City in their opening two fixtures, Bayern are now three points clear at the top of Champions League Group D.
