The capital club's coach has told his players to expect a tough test against the Portuguese at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday nightParis Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc is extremely wary of the threat posed by Benfica to his side's Champions League hopes.
The reigning French champions are hoping to go one better than their quarter-final exit at the hands of Barcelona last season and made the perfect start this term with a 4-1 victory over Olympiakos in on matchday one.
However, Blanc admits he is expecting a much greater challenge when Jorge Jesus brings his troops to the Parc des Princes.
“They’re a team that have a lot big experience in the Champions League,” the World Cup winner told a press conference on Tuesday. “We must respect them, but also have the desire to challenge and fight.
“Benfica are a team that likes to dominate their opponent and impose their own style. I don’t know if they will try to this in the Champions League.
"We know our own intentions, not theirs. I do not know if they will be careful or will take risks.”
The former France coach went on to reveal that he hopes to welcome Brazilian defender Alex back to the squad, but admitted Javier Pastore will miss as he continues his recovery from muscular problem.
“I hope that Alex will be fit after training with the team on Tuesday afternoon," he explained. "Javier will miss the game.”
The eagerly-awaited clash in the French capital is scheduled to kick off at 19:45BST.
