The Bayern Munich defender has urged his team-mates to approach the Champions League tie against the Blaugrana with the right mentality
The German champions face the Blaugrana in the Champions League semi-finals later this month and the former Borussia Monchengladbach man is wary of the task at hand.
"Of course it will not be easy. We know that Barcelona are the best team in the world, with a very modern game system and a touch of the ball that has no comparison," he told Lance.
"It will be very difficult to play against Messi, the best player in the world. We will have to give all of us, to show solidarity and run a lot.
"Barcelona are a great team who improvise a lot. We need to approach the two games with a great mentality and strive to reach the final."
Bayern host Barcelona at the Allianz Arena on April 23 and travel to Camp Nou eight days later.
