The draw in Nyon has thrown up some mouth-watering ties with Cristiano Ronaldo set for a return to his former club whilst Barcelona take on AC Milan and Dortmund face Shakhtar
Manchester United have drawn Real Madrid in the Champions League last 16 while Arsenal will face Bayern Munich.The draw in Nyon means that Cristiano Ronaldo will face his former club with Jose Mourinho and Sir Alex Ferguson set to lock horns once again.
Rio Ferdinand took to Twitter to call out the Portuguese: "Oh yes, Madrid!! What a great couple a games that'll be!! @Cristiano see u soon bro!!"
And Real executive, Emilio Butragueno, also commented on the impact the tie will have on Ronaldo, telling Sky Sports: "I'm sure it's going to be a special game for [Cristiano Ronaldo]. He's a great, great professional so I'm sure that he's going to do his best to help Real Madrid qualify for the next round."
Arsenal, meanwhile, face last season's beaten finalists Bayern Munich who are currently nine points clear at the top of the Bundesliga.
Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge admitted after the draw that the tie "will not be easy", with an away go vital in the first leg
"We know Arsenal very well," Rummenigge told the club's official website. "We can live with the draw. But it's very hard to play against Arsenal. That will be not easy. We have to try to get a good result in London and we have to score an away goal."
Neil Lennon's Celtic who qualified from a difficult group containing Barcelona, will take on Serie A champions Juventus, while Barca also face Italian oppposition in AC Milan.
