The Porto star is delighted to have secured progression to the knock-out stage of the competition, but knows that top spot will be vital in their bid for success

Lucho Gonzalez has set his sights on helping Porto finish top of Group A of the Champions League after booking their place in the last 16 with a 0-0 draw away against Dynamo Kiev.

The Portuguese side ground out the stalemate in the Ukrainian capital on Tuesday to secure their passage into the knock-out stages of the competition and the Argentine is now targeting a first-place finish.

"Of course, we want to win our group now - that is obvious - but there are still two matches to go," he told reporters.

"We managed to achieve our first objective, and we are very happy about that.

"We came [to Kiev] looking for the victory, but we knew that with a draw we would achieve our first objective, which was to make it into the last 16. We managed to do that, and we are happy about it."

The 31-year-old went on to admit that Tuesday’s game was a tough one, but believes his side were unfortunate not to win.

“It was a difficult match. Dynamo are a very strong team at home, but I think we played a good game, and we would have deserved leave with three points.”
