The left-back celebrated his Champions League debut with a 3-2 win over the Red Devils' Portuguese opposition and insists his spirits were not damaged after going 2-0 behind

Manchester United defender Alexander Buttner insists his confidence has not been affected by going behind against Braga in the club’s eventual 3-2 win in the Champions League.

United eventually fought back through a Javier Hernandez double either side of a Jonny Evans effort to preserve the Red Devil's 100 per cent record in the competition after three games.

"It always looks stupid when your direct opponent scores twice,” Buttner told NOS.

“But it didn't make my confidence shrink. Of course I had to get used to the level and we conceded two goals in little time, but luckily it went better after that.

“We know that we have the quality to get back in the game."

The 23-year-old also feels that the club’s friendly atmosphere and the players he trains with will only help to further his career as a player.

"This is a fantastic club, and the people are really nice. I'm training with very good players and making big steps in my progress."
