The retired Scottish striker has criticised Premier League clubs' lack of development in recent years, while saying that he expects Barca to progress in Europe

Former Barcelona attacker Steve Archibald has dismissed English clubs' prospects of winning the Champions League ahead of Chelsea's clash against the Blaugrana in Europe's elite competition on Wednesday.
The Blues are the only British club still competing on the continent despite lying in a disappointing sixth position in the domestic table.
Archibald, who played at Tottenham between 1980 and 1984 before spending one season at Barcelona, is of the opinion that La Liga is a better competition than the Premier League, and says that football in England has made little improvements in recent times.
"Spanish football is without a doubt better than English football," Archibald told Goal.com. "The Premier League perhaps has a higher pace and is more exciting, but when it comes to the quality of football, La Liga is without a doubt better.
"That is why Spanish clubs will always have a bigger chance of winning the Champions League than English clubs.
"I think it will be very hard for an English club to win the Champions League, because they play a football style which is different from the one that is required to win the tournament.
"English football has not changed that much, a lot of money has been invested in it, but the game has not developed."
Questioned about the continental tie between Barcelona and Chelsea, Archibald believes that the Blaugrana are highly favoured to go through.
"Barca can win both matches, especially the one at Camp Nou," the 55-year-old said.
"But when you reach this stage of the competition, it is always harder because we are reaching the end of the season, it depends on the injuries.
"But I believe that Barca will win both matches."
The former Scottish striker then stated that Chelsea must come out strongly in the first half to have a chance of winning Wednesday's contest, and added that Fernando Torres could be a vital piece against the Blaugrana.
"If Chelsea want to get something from the match against Barca, they must do it in the opening 15 minutes and then park the bus at the back," he explained.
"Whatever they try to do, they must do it very quickly, after the first 15 or 20 minutes they will not be able to do anything anymore.
"Torres is a big threat right now, he is scoring many goals and creating chances for his team-mates to score.
"Didier Drogba is very powerful and he has played very well against Barcelona in the past, so I think he will be the one to play against Barca, while Torres will be on the bench."
