More than a third of readers back Real Madrid for Champions League

Los Blancos beat their arch-rivals Barcelona into top spot by a big margin as the majority believe Jose Mourinho's charges will taste glory at the end of the season

More than a third of readers believe it will be Real Madrid who lift the Champions League trophy on May 19 at the Allianz Arena.

Jose Mourinho’s men were given a favourable quarter-final draw as they travel to Cyprus on Tuesday to face minnows APOEL before hoping to finish the job at Santiago Bernabeu on April 4.

Real Madrid received 35.99 per cent of the vote, ahead of rivals Barcelona who garnered 25.63%.

AC Milan are 4.40 with 188Bet to beat Barcelona in the first leg of their quarter-final on Wednesday.

The two could clash in the final as they were placed into separate routes at the draw for the quarter-finals and semi-finals on March 16.

Giving Barcelona a run for their money until the final stages was Chelsea, as 23.76% of our readers believe Roberto Di Matteo’s charges will taste glory for the first time in their history.

The Blues have a very tough run if they do lift the trophy, having to beat two of AC Milan, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Talking of the German giants, Bayern came fourth in our poll, gathering 7.72% of the vote, as most don’t seem to feel the prospect of the final being held at their own stadium will help.

Serie A table-toppers AC Milan haven’t impressed many of voters, it would appear, as only 3.62% of you believe they will claim their eighth European Cup, only just edging out APOEL who managed 2.48%.

It is very hard reading for fans of Benfica and Marseille, as they are favoured by just 0.46% and 0.34% of the votes respectively.
