Hulk hails Porto players as 'warriors' after Champions League win over Shakhtar Donetsk
The Brazilian is delighted that his side managed to stay in the race to advance to the knockout stage and urged his team-mates to continue working to seal qualification
By Luis Mira
A late strike from the Brazilian and an injury-time own-goal from Razvan Rat kept the Europa League holders' qualification hopes alive as it puts them within touching distance of the top two places in Group G.
After the match, Hulk hailed his side's ability to bounce back from the disappointing defeat to Academica Coimbra at the weekend and overcome a stubborn opponent.
"It was a very complicated game, but the players were focused and we managed a positive result here," he said after the match.
"The players were warriors."
The victory leaves Porto third in the group, two points behind APOEL, who are already through, and one behind Zenit St. Petersburg as they prepare to host the Russian side on December 6 in the final round of group games.
"We only depend on ourselves, but we have to keep our feet on the ground, be humble and continue to work," Hulk noted.
