Manchester United stars have been sharing their excitement ahead of the Champions League Final with Barcelona via their Twitter accounts.

Rio Ferdinand, Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen have all been involved in big games before but the Champions League showdown with Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona has got the trio filled with anticipation.

Serial Tweeter, Rio Ferdinand dismissed any possible problems with the Wembley pitch and couldn’t hide his excitement ahead of the game.

“Just finished training at Wembley Stadium....the pitch is in beautiful condition.... #oooff!" he tweeted.

“Looking forward to the game....like a little kid waiting for xmas day...hurry up + get this game ooooooon! Goodnight twitterverse!”

Michael Owen is unlikely to play a key-role in tonight’s game show-piece though is counting down the minutes until kick-off, he added: “Morning all. The waiting is over. Match day is here and the lads are in good form. Let's hope it's a day to remember.”

Wayne Rooney is relatively new to the world of Twitter although he also shared his excitement in the build-up, revealing: “Just going on a walk round the park to loosen the legs up for later. Soooooo excited.”
