AC Milan only lacked a goal against Tottenham - Adriano Galliani

Supremo says he cannot fault players
AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani is remaining upbeat despite his side failing to overcome a one-goal deficit from the first leg against Tottenham in the Champions League.

The Serie A leaders were not knocked out of the competition on Wednesday night after they drew 0-0 at White Hart Lane, therefore losing 1-0 on aggregate.

"We need to take a look at the positive aspects of the match. All we lacked was a goal," Galliani told Mediaset Premium after the match. "We had a great chance, but the ball hovered over their goal line.

"We dominated possession, and did not allow them to shoot on goal. We succumbed to a counter-attack during the first leg, and I have nothing to tell the players off about.

"We were five centimetres from scoring. Fatigue had nothing to do with it. I am satisfied with Milan's performance. We need to have the maturity to accept this loss, especially when they arrive in this way."

Now that the club are out of the tournament, Galliani admits the side will turn their full attention to winning the Serie A title.

"This elimination will not leave negative thoughts in us, which may affect us the league. We will forget about this match and think about doing well," he said.

"We may have been bundled out, but we have honoured the sport of football."
