Tottenham will progress further in the Champions League than rivals Arsenal this term, according to the results of Goal.com UK’s poll.
After topping their group and beating the competition’s holders Inter in the process, Harry Redknapp’s side were dealt one of the toughest possible ties in the last 16 draw as they were paired with AC Milan.
Despite being an ageing side the current Serie A leaders have experience in Europe, as well as a wealth of attacking options in Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Robinho, Ronaldinho and Alexandre Pato, with the latter likely to return from injury by the time the tie will be played.
Tottenham have impressed in their Champions League debut so far, but concerns have been raised regarding their defensive vulnerability and having conceded 11 goals in the group stage, they will need to operate a tighter rear guard.
Meanwhile Arsenal, who at one point in the group stage were comfortably topping their table, eventually finished second and were paired with favourites Barcelona in the last 16.
Pep Guardiola’s men navigated their way through their group with relative ease and their domestic form has been irrepressible, regardless of whether players are dropped, or indeed, whether they are playing home or away.
So, Goal.com UK asked you, in light of the two draws, who is the more likely team to lift the trophy in May?
A convincing 69.97 per cent of readers believe Tottenham have the easier draw and can go further in the competition than their north London rivals.
However 30.03% insist Arsenal, who lost 6-3 on aggregate to Barcelona at the quarter-final stage last season, have the capability to avenge that defeat and can beat Guardiola’s side and win the competition.
