Bebe has been named in Manchester United's Champions League squad despite initial reports he had not made the cut.

The 20-year-old was understood to have joined injured star Owen Hargreaves on the sidelines for the competition after Sir Alex Ferguson named his 25-man squad last week without him. The news intensified interest in the shock signing who had played in the Portuguese third tier last season.

The attacker - who made his Portugal under-21 bow in Friday night's 1-0 defeat to England - could now be in line for his Old Trafford debut next Tuesday when United kick off their European campaign against Rangers after Uefa confirmed his presence.

If he misses that match, he is expected to play the League Cup third round tie against Scunthorpe United the following week.
