Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp believes that playing on artificial turf could "kill" Ledley King's career, ahead of the Champions League play-off against Young Boys.
Spurs take on the Swiss side in a double header in the hope of progressing to the group stage of Europe's elite competition for the first time in almost 50 years.
But the former Portsmouth boss believes that the magnitude of the fixture, being 'only' the first leg, may put him off from fielding his injury-prone defender - who has well documented knee-related problems.
"I have thought about the Astroturf and it could just kill Ledley completely, it could ruin his knee," Redknapp said, according to The Guardian.
"The surface will be harder than grass and it would be a problem for him."
Tottenham will play Young Boys on Tuesday night, in a game that they are widely expected to win.
