"After Ajax's third consecutive title and Jordi's title with Maccabi Tel Aviv, there were more reasons to celebrate this weekend," Cruyff wrote in his column for De Telegraaf.
"I am talking about Wigan's surprising FA Cup win over Manchester City under Roberto Martinez.
"He's one of Jordi's best friends and coaches my grandson, who plays for the Wigan reserves. Roberto and Jordi got to knock each other in the 90s when they played for Wigan and Manchester United respectively. They both have a Spanish background and became friends.
"They already shared the same football ideas back then and that makes it even better to see what's happening to them recently. Wigan's performance is absolutely fantastic.
"The club with the lowest budget in the Premier League beats the team with the biggest budget. It's a nice upset. It was not a complete surprise, though.
"Wigan are a team that always try and play football and are at their best against strong opponents."
