The 21-year-old meets his former club for the first time in the FA Cup this weekend and admits he will have mixed emotions when the Latics host the Toffees at Boundary Park

Oldham Athletic striker Jose Baxter is excited to face former club Everton for the first time in Saturday’s FA Cup tie.

The 21-year-old, who holds the record as the Toffees' youngest ever first-team player, left Goodison Park in the summer after struggling to cement a spot in David Moyes’ plans.

The Bootle-born forward played in Oldham’s 3-2 victory over Liverpool in the last round of the FA Cup and is hopeful that his former club’s fans give him a warm reception.

“You can never be 100 per cent sure what kind of reception you are going to receive from supporters of your former club,” he told Everton’s official website.

“But I left Goodison Park on good terms and I have been to a few of Everton’s home games to show my support for the lads. I love returning there.

“I love the club. When I see Everton fans crammed into Boundary Park I will clap them, because they were so supportive of me. I am looking forward to seeing them this weekend.

“Loads of my mates from Bootle and around Merseyside will be in with the away fans. It makes me smile to think they will be there - and obviously it’s another incentive to perform well.”
