The Republic of Ireland international scored two own-goals and missed a penalty as his side lost their first home game in nearly a year on Saturday.
However, after netting twice as Tony Pulis' men bounced back with a 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace in their FA Cup third-round replay, the striker expressed the importance of remaining calm under pressure.

"In football you have ups and downs, but you have to try and remain level headed at all times - because if you don't then you get affected by things.
"I was confident coming into the [Palace] game, there was never an issue about that.
"What happened on Saturday happened on Saturday and you just have to move on.
"I got a bit of stick from the lads at the weekend, but most of that came from me kicking the ball against my own head (while attempting to take a shot in the first half) before I scored the two own-goals.
"It's nice to get a couple at the right end though."
