Oldham are considering constructing a temporary 3,000-seat stand in order to boost the capacity at Boundary Park ahead of their FA Cup clash with Liverpool.
The Latics will meet Brendan Rodgers' side in the fourth round on January 26 and hope to increase revenues by expanding upon the stadium's 10,000 capacity.
Club representatives are meeting with local council officials and health and safety officers in order to propose the idea on Monday morning.
Oldham have yet to sell over 6,000 tickets for any home game this season but hope to have a full house for the visit of Liverpool.

Paul Dickov's side secured passage to the fourth round with a 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest, whilst the Reds beat Conference outfit Mansfield 2-1.
The two sides met in last year's FA Cup, with the Merseysiders posting a comfortable 5-1 third round win at Anfield en route to the final.
