thumbnail Hello,

Saturday sees the first of two cup finals for the Blues, and the captain admits the interim manager has been "a revelation" since taking over from Andre Villas-Boas

John Terry has praised Chelsea interim boss Roberto Di Matteo and hailed his passion for the club ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup final.

The Blues face Liverpool at Wembley as they aim to turn around a disappointing season by picking up two trophies, with the Champions League final against Bayern Munich to follow on May 19.

Chelsea’s hopes of a top four finish were dashed on Wednesday after two wonder goals from Papiss Cisse saw them lose 2-0 at home to Newcastle, but Terry still believes the former Blues midfielder deserves credit for what he has achieved.

“He cares for the club immensely, which is great, and that's certainly rubbed off on the players,” the Blues captain told Chelsea TV.

"So he's been a revelation, really, since he took over.

"He shows that he cares and the passion shows in the team meetings and on the training field when things don't go well.

"He always refers back to the way he cares about this football club, the relationship he has with the fans as well.

"He's got a great rapport with the fans, a great understanding with the players. He's communicating with everyone and things have gone very well for us.

"So he deserves a huge amount of credit for that."

Di Matteo has kept Chelsea fighting on three fronts in the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League by rotating players but rewarding them for good form; something Terry believes has helped their cause.

"We've had so many games,” he added. "It's been training and playing every two or three days.

"He just kept everyone fresh in the mind that they can get a chance and the opportunity.

"Then, once you do get that opportunity, if you do well, you will stay in the side and progress and keep your starting place, which everyone throughout the side has felt."
