The Reds are set to face Cardiff in the League Cup final on Sunday and have another opportunity to travel to the home of English football after reaching an FA Cup quarter-final

Steven Gerrard is hoping for a second Wembley appearance with Liverpool this season after qualifying for the FA Cup quarter-finals with a 6-1 defeat of Championship side Brighton.

The Reds are set to face Cardiff in the League Cup final at the London stadium on Sunday and have now given themselves a chance of sealing another Wembley fixture in the FA Cup.

Having previously put out Manchester United in the fourth round, Kenny Dalglish's men will take on Stoke at Anfield in their quarter-final on the weekend of March 17.

The semi-finals of the competition take place in London meaning the Reds could make it a hat-trick of appearances at the home of English football this season should they go as far as to seal a final berth.

The Reds captain told The Mirror: “It’s great to have a home draw but Stoke made it very difficult when they came here in January. They are very resilient.

“It would be fantastic if we could get to Wembley twice this season.”
