Birmingham City's goalscoring hero Wade Elliott insisted that their victory over Wolves was fully deserved as they progressed to the FA Cup fourth round.

The midfielder struck late in the second half to condemn Mick McCarthy's men to a morale-sapping defeat but extended the Blues' impressive run of seven games without a loss.

"I don't think we knicked it," Elliott told ITV Sport.

"I thought we moved the ball well. It's felt on the pitch like a deserved win and we deserved to go
through."

Despite his side's hefty Championhip and Europa League fixture schedule, Elliott feels a good run-in the FA Cup would do his side no harm at all.

"We've always maintained that if we're playing a lot of games that means we're doing well," he added.

"For us, as far as were concerned the more games the better.

"It was a good turn-out from our fans. It's always nice to get through in the cup."

Chris Hughton's side travel to Bramhall Lane to take on League One high-flyers Sheffield United in the next stage of the competition.
