As the January transfer window begins to heat up, cash-rich clubs eye extortionate transfers while lesser Premier League sides cling for dear life to their most valued players.

Goal.com correspondent Greg Stobart was on hand to answer your Twitter questions ahead of the FA Cup third-round weekend, and also discuss a number of possible comings and goings throughout the month.

Below are the highlights of the Q&A – click here to read the full article.

With injuries taking their toll and form dipping, do Manchester United have a chance in their FA Cup clash with local rivals Manchester City on Sunday? - Tope Olusanya

Greg Stobart: “This is Manchester United we’re talking about - of course they have a chance. I wouldn’t put it past Sir Alex Ferguson’s side to shut a few people up on Sunday by winning the Manchester derby. It’s clear there are some problems at Old Trafford at the moment - not least the poor quality of the midfield - but United still have quality players and a winning mentality that even Roberto Mancini admits money can’t buy."

Who should Arsenal sign to sort out their full-back crisis & do they need another striker, despite Thierry Henry loan deal? - Smart Sam

Greg: “The thing to remember about Arsenal’s full-backs is that, when everyone is fit, Arsene Wenger has plenty to choose from. Bacary Sagna and Kieran Gibbs are two of the best in the league, while Andre Santos and Carl Jenkinson provide adequate back-up, with the likes of Johan Djourou, Thomas Vermaelen also able to fill in. Any signing should, and will, be short-term so I honestly don’t see why Gunners’ fans are so against signing Wayne Bridge on loan as cover until the injured players return. Players like Taye Taiwo and Leighton Baines are excellent but make little sense, especially given the inflated prices of the January transfer market.

“I would fully agree that Arsenal need a new striker - and they have today confirmed the signing of Thierry Henry on a six-week loan deal. He will be an upgrade on the hopeless Marouane Chamakh - who is leaving next week for the African Cup of Nations - but I would still be very worried about how Arsenal will cope if Robin van Persie gets injured.”

What are Liverpool’s most pressing problems and could Darren Bent come to Anfield? - Youssef Tharwat

Greg: “Liverpool’s problem this season has quite clearly been their failure to score goals, especially at Anfield where Kenny Dalglish’s side have drawn six of their 10 Premier League games. Swansea, Blackburn and Norwich are just three of the sides who have managed to leave Anfield with a point and that’s not good enough for a team with top-four aspirations. The Reds boast a solid defence and the midfield, while rather unspectacular, creates its fair share of chances.

“For all Dalglish’s moans about coming up against inspired goalkeepers, the killer touch has been missing in front of goal and it wouldn’t surprise me if Liverpool addressed this shortcoming in January. The Bent rumours are true in that Liverpool are understood to be showing interest – but no contact has been made with Aston Villa and it certainly isn’t a ‘done deal’, as has been suggested in some quarters."

Do Leeds United stand a chance against Premier League giants Arsenal in their FA Cup tie on Monday night? - James Webster

Greg: “I don’t see too many major shocks this weekend but I do think your team Leeds will get a draw at Arsenal on Monday night to take it to a replay, just as they did when the sides met in the FA Cup last season.”
