It was a big day at both ends of the table in the Championship as Cardiff's lead at the top was cut to just four points after two penalties from Gavin McCann consigned them to a defeat against struggling Peterborough, despite taking the lead through Aron Gunnarsson.
Hull capitalised on Cardiff's unexpected slip-up with a 1-0 win away to Huddersfield, courtesy of a second-half strike from George Boyd - a strike that also puts them four points clear of Watford who are third.
Brighton were another team to benefit from today's action as they moved into a play-off position thanks to a 2-2 draw away at Nottingham Forest, though they could have leapfrogged their opposition today had they held onto their two goal lead - late strikes from Lewis McGugan and Henri Lansbury ensured that it was not to be for the away side.
At the bottom, it was a torrid day for Barnsley as a goal apiece from Gary Madine and Reda Johnson meant that they lost their relegation battle with Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 - a defeat that puts them into the bottom three. Wolves, however, received a boost in their efforts to avoid relegation as Kevin Doyle's winner ensured that they only remain in the relegation zone on goal difference after their 3-2 win against Middlesbrough.
