The centre-back joins Sean O'Driscoll's side on a two-month deal for emergency purposes after Daniel Ayala - a former Canary himself - suffered a hamstring injury
Forest boss Sean O'Driscoll made the move for Ward after a hamstring injury to Daniel Ayala sustained in last week's match against Blackpool ruled the defender out for three weeks.
Ward will be immediately available for Saturday's game against Barnsley.
And Forest chairman Omar Al-Hasawi believes Ward's signing could be an important addition to the City Ground side on a short-term measure.
He told reporters: “Once it became clear that Daniel would miss a number of games we felt it was important to add to our defensive options.
"Elliott has great experience having played in the Premier League with Norwich last season and will be a valuable addition to our squad."
