Coventry City recorded their first League One win of the season and their first victory under new manager Mark Robins as they saw off Oldham 1-0.
The Sky Blues put their 6-1 drubbing at Arsenal in midweek out of their minds as a Cody Macdonald header ten minutes from time took the points back to the Midlands.
Elsewhere, Portsmouth also secured all three points as Mike Atherton's side came from a goal behind against Scunthorpe at Fratton Park thanks to Wes Thomas' late goal.
There were also wins for Walsall, Crawley, Colchester, Doncaster while Bury managed to draw 2-2 away to Stevenage in an engaging encounter.

Gillingham suffered their first defeat of the season in League Two as Rochdale came away from Priestfield Stadium with a 2-1 win under their belts.
Martin Allen's men were 2-0 behind after an hour through goals from Bobby Grant and Andrew Tutte and, despite getting on the scoresheet through a Danny Kedwell penalty, they ended the game with 10 men and no points.
Burton Albion and Northampton met in a six-goal thriller with the away side rescuing a point right at the death through Alex Nicholls' super equaliser.
There were also wins for Wimbledon, Bristol Rovers, Port Vale and Rotherham while Plymouth shared the spoils with Southend as Dagenham and Redbridge thrashed Wycombe 3-0.
