Derby County were the team of the day in the Championship, posting an emphatic 5-1 win over a lacklustre Watford at Pride Park.

The Rams were 3-0 up at half-time thanks to a delicate chip from Conor Sammon following efforts from Richard Keogh and Jeff Hendrick, whilst Will Hughes and Jamie Ward struck in the second period to hand Nigel Clough's side their first home win in five months.

Leeds United were on the verge of a stunning comeback win at Elland Road after going 2-0 down to Blackburn Rovers, but a close range finish from Ruben Rochina salvaged a 3-3 draw to deny the Yorkshire side all three points.

Meanwhile, Andy Keogh struck twice for Millwall in their lunchtime 3-1 victory over Middlesborough to bag the Lions' first win of the season.

Crystal Palace also bagged their first points of the season with a 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday at Selhurst Park and there were victories for Barnsley, Birmingham, Brighton, Hull City and Nottingham Forest.

Yeovil Town maintained their unbeaten start to the League One season by overcoming Doncaster Rovers 2-1 at Huish Park.

Former Rovers striker James Hayter put his new side in the lead after 56 minutes with a header and the home side doubled their through substitute Gozie Ugwu before Billy Paynter denied them a clean sheet in injury time.

Bramwell Lane witnessed an eight-goal thriller as Sheffield United beat AFC Bournemouth 5-3 in an epic encounter. Ryan Flynn netted twice in the first half before Lee Barnard's 87th-minute strike gave the Cherries brief hope of a comeback.

Elsewhere, Tranmere Rovers inflicted a 4-0 home defeat on Colchester United. A hat-trick from 19-year-old Jake Cassidy gave the Wirral side the win, with his second the pick of goals - a shot drilled into the bottom left-hand corner of the goal.

There were also wins for Crawley Town, Crewe, Hartlepool, MK Dons and Oldham whilst Walsall and Brentford played out a 2-2 draw with Stevenage also sharing the points with Shrewsbury Town.

Rotherham United thrashed Bradford City 4-0 in League Two as a glut of goals poured in at New York Stadium.

Gareth Evans strikes either side of half-time - his second an effort from outside the box four minutes from time - and a first minute strike from Michael O'Connor sent the Bantams packing in emphatic fashion.

There was also a big win for Fleetwood Town who beat Aldershot 4-1 despite both teams going down to ten men. Josh Payne was given his marching orders for two bookable offences as Dean Howell also saw a straight red for the Cod Army, who scored twice in the last ten minutes.

Meanwhile, Plymouth enjoyed a thrilling 3-2 victory over visitors Northampton Town by coming back from a goal down to take three points.

There were victories elsewhere for Accrington Stanley, Exeter, Morecambe, Southend and Rochdale as Gillingham and Chesterfield shared the spoils to ensure that the Kent team stayed on top and Torquay managed to grab a point away to Port Vale.
