thumbnail Hello,

The 22-year-old has expressed his delight at joining Rovers and has insisted that his new club will be crucial in his development, saying he is not yet a "completed player"

Blackburn Rovers boss Steve Kean believes that new £8 million signing Jordan Rhodes can be a big hit at Ewood Park as the team looks to regain their Premier League status.

The 22-year-old joined from fellow Championship team Huddersfield Town on Thursday after a long transfer saga that saw three bids rejected before the Yorkshire side finally gave in.

Kean is confident that despite the large transfer fee, Rhodes' qualities will help the club in the long term, whilst also rubbishing talks that they overpaid for the player.

"Everybody knows what type of player Jordan [Rhodes] is. I think he’s got lots and lots of qualities and the one that I think shines out from all is his goal-scoring ability," Kean told Sky Sports News.

"Yes he's cost a lot of money but we feel as though it's a massive investment. We don't see it as a big fee that you only look at it in one dimension. It's our record fee for the club, but we feel as though he can go on to massive things here."

Rhodes himself believes that Blackburn belong in the Premier League and is determined to get the side back where they should be.

He also expressed his excitement at joining up with players of such great experience, and believes his development will be helped by playing and training alongside them.

"This is a Premiership club with Premiership fans, facilities, everything but the status in the league," Rhodes enthused.

"You only have to have to come here and look around the changing room, the players that you sit next to and talk to over lunch or whatever it might be. I see it as the next stage of my development.

"I'm not a completed player by any means and there [are] players that I've played [with] in that changing room that have been at the highest level, both internationally and Premier League, so I'm coming here to learn off of them, and pick up a few tips in trying to develop."
