thumbnail Hello,

The pair have been heavily linked with a move away from Molineux and their new boss has refused to rule out an exit for either, with Sunderland and Stoke City reportedly interested

Wolves manager Stale Solbakken has admitted in-demand duo Steven Fletcher and Matt Jarvis could leave, but only if a team matches their valuations.

Both players have been strongly linked with a move back to the Premier League - with Sunderland and Fulham thought to be chasing the striker and Stoke City keen on the one-time England international.

Solbakken has confirmed he has held talks with the pair over their futures and, while he would like them to remain at Molineux, he has admitted they could exit the recently-relegated club before the transfer window shuts.

“I spoke to both of them yesterday and it’s always like this when you have a contract and you have other possibilities,” he told reporters.

“You have to be open-minded and ready for every outcome, and I think both of them are.

“At the moment they’re Wolverhampton players but there can be big fish out there who suddenly come in with a once-in-a-lifetime offer for them, and also a very good deal for the club. We have to make sure we’re ready for that.

“Jarvis and Fletcher are good, attractive players, and know they can attract interest from the Premier League clubs. They probably think there’s an opportunity.”

However, Solbakken, who joined the Championship club last month, has urged the players to show loyalty to him and their team-mates as they try to reclaim their Premier League status.

“I think it’s impossible to say [if they will stay]. The expectations from the club and the player could also be too big and they’re both worth a lot on and off the pitch,” he added.

“On the other hand, as I told both players, ‘you could break your leg or damage your knee ligament tomorrow but I won’t say I won’t pay you your money for the next three years’.

“That’s why we have contracts, and I expect them to honour the contract while I’m here, 100 per cent. Both said they had no problem with that.

“But the situation could change and it would be naive to say they’ll play for us no matter what, because unless you’re Lionel Messi and have a clause for millions, you can’t do that.”
