Birmingham City reject second bid from West Brom for Liam Ridgewell – report
The defender was refused a transfer request last summer following the Blues' relegation, but it seems Roy Hodgson is intent on handing him a return to the Premier League
It emerged last week that the Baggies had identified the defender as a primary transfer target, and had an initial approach rebuffed by the Championship side.
It is reported that Roy Hodgson has since increased his bid for the 27-year-old in an attempt to lure him back to the Premier League, but Chris Hughton’s side have refused to entertain the offer.
Ridgewell had a transfer request rejected last summer following a bittersweet campaign for the Blues, as they suffered relegation to the Championship only three months after lifting the League Cup at Wembley.
The former Aston Villa man has played a key role in his side’s battle for a playoff place so far this season, but with promotion far from a certainty, it remains to be seen if Birmingham can ward off potential Premier League suitors in the current transfer window.
Newcastle United, QPR and Everton have also been linked with a move for the defender in recent months as he seeks a return to top-flight football.
