Birmingham City's Boaz Myhill wins inaugural Football League Precision Goalkeeping Golden Glove award
After a string of outstanding displays at St Andrews, the on-loan West Browm shot-stopper has been awarded the first ever monthly goalkeeping prize for the month of October
By Joe Wright
Myhill, who is on loan from local rivals West Bromwich Albion, put in some sensational displays in October as he kept five clean sheets and conceded just one goal.
His club secured four wins and a draw as a result of the former Hull City ‘keeper’s form, and he was delighted to be the first ever player to be acknowledged with the Football League prize.
“Obviously I am delighted to be the first winner,” he told reporters. “To get any recognition as a player is something you cherish and it is something I will be keeping on the mantel piece.
“As a goalkeeper you tend to get recognition when things don’t go well - the award is a great idea and hope I can win it again this season.”
The Precision Goalkeeping Golden Glove will be awarded to the goalkeeper in the Football League who has secured the highest number of clean sheets that month.
In addition, there will be an annual award given to players from the Championship, League One and League Two who have the highest number of clean sheets to their name throughout the season.
